Casinos in Dundee
An interesting quirk of the city of Dundee is that it is simultaneously rather large and quite small, depending on your perspective. If you’re Scottish, then you’ll point to the fact that it’s the fourth-largest city North of the border, whilst those from the rest of the UK might point to the fact that there are fifty more populous places than it in the United Kingdom. That might well be the reason that there is just one casino of note in the city.
Map of Dundee Casinos
To be fair to Dundee, it used to have two casinos, but the Gala one was demolished in September of 2013 so as to make room for a new development on the city’s waterfront. That leaves the Grosvenor to hold down the fort, which it does in some style. There are a number of roulette tables, as well as popular tables games, such as Blackjack and three card poker. You don’t need to get involved on the tables to have a good time, however, with plenty of excellent slot machines on offer.
If you’re a high-stakes player then you’ll be pleased to know that you can go big on both the American roulette table and some of the Blackjack tables. Meanwhile if you’re a poker player, then head over to the casino’s dedicated poker section and get involved. There are tournaments held there daily, as well as cash games in the evening on weekdays and in the afternoon on weekends. Grab a drink or a bite to eat at the bar or restaurant and watch a bit of live sport in between hands, if you like.
The structure of Dundee is based around its proximity to the River Tay, so you would be forgiven for thinking that the Grosvenor would be near to the waterfront. Actually, it’s set a little bit further back, a few-minutes walk from Caird Hall and the University of Dundee’s campus.
Closed Casino
The Gala Casino, formerly located at Discovery Point in Dundee, is permanently closed, leaving the town just the one casino.
