Casinos in Sheffield
You’d be forgiven for thinking that, with a population of a little under 600,000, Sheffield would have a bagful of casinos to entertain the city’s residents. In reality, though, the combination of both Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield Universities means that a lot of those that live there are students who head home in the holidays.

Instead of a bagful there are just three, with two of them being members of the Napoleons chain. Having said all of that, one of them is located on the Ecclesall Road, which is a popular place for students thanks to all of its bars. It’s quite a small venue, though there’s still room for all of the usual casino games, including numerous roulette wheels. There are also slot machines and a poker room for both cash games and tournaments. The Napoleons in Owlerton, not far from Sheffield Wednesday’s football stadium, is a bit bigger and has the same facilities as the other venue, including poker. If you’re a Mah Jong fan then they host tournaments of that game too.
Moving away from the Napoleons, the other casino is part of the Grosvenor chain. It’s set in a purpose-build location and you’ll be able to play standard card games, such as baccarat, Blackjack and three-card poker. Speaking of poker, there’s a room for that here, too. As well as regular tournaments of Texas Hold’em, there are also cash games available daily. Slot machines, electronic roulette and more are in the casino for those of you that prefer to play modern games.
Sheffield’s a surprisingly large city, but it’s relatively easy to get around. As well as a decent bus service, there’s also a tram that will take you from place to place. That’s handy with one of the Napoleons Casinos being to the North of city near Hillsborough Stadium. The Eccleshall Road branch is to the South-West, whilst the Grosvenor is closest to the city centre.
