Casinos in Southend-on-Sea

Given that Central London is only about 40-miles away and offers more than twenty casinos, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Southend-On-Sea wouldn’t really offer much on that front. You’d be wrong, though, with this small seaside town on the Thames Estuary having two different casinos from which to choose.

Not only does this pleasant seaside town have two casinos, but they’re also both part of a much larger enterprise. The Rendezvous Casino, for example, is owned by the Caesars Entertainment Group, which is based in Las Vegas. No surprise, then, that the likes of American roulette and slot machines with up to £10,000 by way of a jackpot are high on the list of priorities. All of the usual table games are available too, of course, as are cash poker games and the occasional tournament.

Not quite as glamorous, but still perhaps slightly unexpected, is the presence of a member of the Genting Casino chain. Here the progressive jackpots on the slots can reach as high as £20,000 and there are ten different roulette tables. You can also get involved with electronic roulette if that sort of thing takes your fancy. Three-card poker, Blackjack and baccarat tables are dotted around the place and, much like at the Rendezvous, you can partake in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and cash games daily.

As a seaside town everything about Southend-On-Sea is centered around the beach front and the esplanade. The two casinos are virtually at opposite ends of it with the Rendezvous Casino sitting directly south of Southend East Train Station – just by Southchurch Park. The Genting Club is actually in the area known as Westcliff-On-Sea, but considering it’s within a short walk of Southend Central Train Station, you shouldn’t get too hung up on that.
