Voted casino of the year in 2012 in its first year of operation, the Hippodrome Casino is located in an iconic building just off Leicester Square, London. More than £40 million was invested in its renovation from a nightclub and, previous to that, an indoor circus.

Because of its central location, there are many hotels in the vicinity with the Radisson being one of the nearest. Drivers can park in a nearby NCP in Whitcombe Street, but the casino is right next door to Leicester Square tube station and within easy reach of Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Charing Cross tube stops. London City airport is nine miles away and Heathrow is 19 miles from the casino.

Gamblers will find three floors of gaming with some of the most popular casino games featured. The establishment has 18 Roulette tables, 20 different card tables for anything from Texas Hold 'Em to Three Card Poker. There are five dedicated Baccarat tables as well as 20 different slot machines to gamble on. The Hippodrome also offers five Tombola Roulette machines and 51 terminals with games such as Roulette, Baccarat and Dice. Another main attraction of the Hippodrome is the dedicated poker floor where players will find a variety of games including 24 hour cash tables and where they will also be able to enjoy poker tournaments such as Pokerstars Live. Join the casino’s Friends Loyalty Programme to earn points to spend on gambling chips, food and drink as well as shopping vouchers.

Overlooking the main gaming floor, is the Heliot Steakhouse or you can choose to drink at one of their five bars including the Heliot Cocktail Bar on the first floor which has a 24 hour food menu serving a range of sandwiches, burgers and snacks. Live entertainment is a regular feature of the Hippodrome and the bar has a number of screens showing big sporting games live.

Cracking casino

We visited the Hippodrome for the first time this week after spotting an awesome looking deal on Bookatable - three course dinner in the steakhouse with a champagne cocktail and £10 worth of casino chips for £20 a head.

Both the food and the Helliot restaurant were good and a nice relaxing way to start the evening off. After dinner we took our free chips and headed to the cheaper roulette tables in the basement (£1 & £2 min tables, £5 min blackjack). The four of us burned through our freebies fairly quickly and headed off to the bar before having another crack at the tables - beer was relatively reasonable considering the location (£4.50 a pint).

The casino has a nice relaxed feel and the tables weren't too crowded (especially considering it was a Friday night). All the staff were incredibly friendly and even tolerated our (slightly drunken) over the top enthusiasm whilst playing.
